Browser tools are limited to about 25 MB by available memory. Above that, or if you need to do this thousands of times, the API does the same work server side.

Why free

They cost us nothing. There is no backend, no compute and no bandwidth — the page is a static file and your own device does the work. Charging for that would be strange.

If they solve your problem once, good. If you find yourself doing it a hundred times a week, that is when an API starts making sense.
